NEW CLIENTS

 

Hello & Welcome!


Perhaps you have gone to therapy before, or maybe this is your first time… Either way, our goal is to make sure you feel welcome and safe.


STEP 1: REACHING OUT

First things first….. Reach out! If you have any questions at all regarding the therapy process, how to get started, or what to expect, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. 


STEP 2: FREE CONSULT

We offer an optional free 20 minute consultation through phone call, text/chat message, or email to ensure your needs and your schedule work with Kelly or Skip. 

This is a great time to ask any questions you have. We will verify finances, including insurance, and listen to any concerns you may have. 

You are not required to schedule a free consult. This is entirely optional. 


STEP 3: BECOMING A CLIENT

All clients have access to an online client portal with the ability to schedule appointments, sign and view documents, send secure HIPAA compliant messages, make payments, print receipts and statements, and upload documents. All client forms are housed in the client portal for electronic completion and signing. Our client portal is HIPAA secure and encrypted. 


STEP 4: PAPERWORK

All paperwork and documentation must be submitted within 48 business hours of your appointment time. This allows time for us to verify any insurance benefits and ensure your client file is ready for your arrival. 

You will be asked to provide a copy of your photo ID and insurance card. You may take a picture or scan this information and email them to info@borghicounseling.com or fill out the insurance verification form on our Insurance and Fees page here.


STEP 5: FIRST SESSION

The first session is a little different from other sessions. Typically, we will spend 1-3 sessions going over what brought you to therapy and planning together how to best support you in reaching your goals. 

This is a great opportunity for you to: 
- Share your concerns, your joys, and your goals 
- Ask questions about us (therapy style, background, qualifications) 


This is an opportunity for us to: 
- Actively listen and understand who you are 
- Take inventory of your biological, social, spiritual, sexual, social, academic, and relationship health 
- Ask questions about how I can best help you 
- Clarify what has or has not worked with previous providers (if any)


ONGOING SESSIONS

After we finish gathering your history/background information, we will work together on creating a treatment plan. A treatment plan may sound overwhelming, but it helps to keep the therapeutic relationship focused. It also helps to keep us both accountable to what is being worked on, and how it is being worked on. 


Ensuring you find the right therapist is a big deal to us, and we know it can sometimes be a challenging process. We want you to feel confident in your choice to work with one of us, so if you have any questions at all about whether or not one of us is the right fit for you, please feel free to read more about us, give us a call, or send us an email - we’d love to hear from you!

You may be asking yourself, “How do I know if you will be the right fit for me?”

Not only is that a good question, it actually might be one of the most important questions! What do we mean by that? Well, research has shown that the therapeutic relationship itself plays a crucial role in the success individuals experience in therapy. Research even suggests that the therapeutic relationship accounts for improvement equally as much as the treatment method being used.

PS. If we aren’t the right fit for you, we are happy to provide you with referrals to other trusted therapists who may be a good fit.
